This will be Lyla’s first Easter and it’s a holiday that I’ve looked forward to enjoying with my own kids for many years. My parents always made Easter morning such a fun time and I have many wonderful memories as a result. I knew that this was something that I wanted to create for my children as well.

Since she’s only nine months old, we’re obviously not in full out egg hunting, candy craving, bunny anticipation mode. This can make things a little tough when determining what goodies are best to fill an Easter basket with. While she’s enjoying a large selection of table foods, we’ve decided to wait and introduce sweets at her first birthday. I’m also not a huge fan of clutter and at her age, there’s really no need for an abundance of toys as she often prefers a normal household item over a specialty singing piece of plastic. I figured there may be other parents in similar situations, so I’ve decided to share what the Easter Bunny will be bringing this year.

I’d love to hear any ideas that you’re going with!

  1. Pottery Barn Seersucker Liner. I fell in love with this liner as soon as I saw it. I’m having it embroidered locally with her first name to create a keepsake we’ll use every year.
  2. Baby Touch and Feel: Animals book. She loves books that have either flaps or touch and feel elements. This one will come in handy as we start to identify different animals.
  3. Where Are Baby’s Easter Eggs? lift the flap book. This is a super cute little holiday book. I think she’ll really enjoy the flaps and bright colors for a few years.
  4. Bunnies by the Bay Buddy Blanket. This brand makes some of the sweetest and softest plush toys.
  5. Pottery Barn Pink Seersucker Bunny Ears. There’s really no function here, I just couldn’t help myself. Unfortunately the pink are sold out, but they do have navy.
  6. Oli & Carol Elvis the Duck. We will be transitioning to the big bath soon and I wanted to find a plastic-free toy for her to play with. This brand is made out of natural rubber and is completely sealed to prevent water from getting in. I’ll do a review once we have a chance to use it!
  7. Gerber Organic Green Veggie Puffs. These were the first foods she learned how to feed herself. They still make a great snack and are perfect to put into the Easter eggs for a rattling sound 🙂
  8. Happy Baby Organic Yogurt Melts. We haven’t tried any of these yet, but I’m hoping they’ll be a hit. I plan to put these in the eggs along with the puffs.
  9. Carter’s Chambray Top and Lemon Leggings. This outfit immediately caught my eye from the Carter’s magazine. Apparently I wasn’t the only one, because it sold out on the website before I could order. Luckily Macy’s and Kohl’s still had it!
  10. Avanchy Bamboo Plate. As Lyla is eating more “big people food”, we realized we were going to need some dishware for her. I’m still navigating the waters of what materials we’ll use, so we’re giving this bamboo option a try. I’ll review once we’ve used it.

1 Comment on What’s in Lyla’s Easter Basket

  1. I’m looking forward to Lyla’s first Easter, too, as I remember so many of your Easter mornings when you were growing up, Krista. It is amazing to see how many “non candy” items you can find to fill a basket. Clothes are the majority of items I am putting in the basket that I am preparing for her. What girl doesn’t like new clothes??!! Can’t wait!
