Just as with the Fall Hearth Inspiration, when it’s time to make your house spookfully gorgeous, you want the hearth to be the focal point of the room. Put your best design foot forward this Halloween season with these fireplace decorating tips.
- Bring in some moodiness. My house is typically a neutral haven of beige, grey, and blue. So just adding a few black pieces can make an instant impression. I love this black spiderweb lace to bring in instant contrast as well as texture. Lay this across your mantle and you could even add some twinkle lights behind it for a moody glow.
- Give the mantle some height. You want at least three different heights placed together to give a cohesive and intentional aesthetic. You get that instantly with this gothic pillar candle holder set. Cluster them together with a set on each side of the mantle, put all three in the center, or scatter two sets across the full length.
- Add some glow. Flameless candles are my essential decor piece for any time of the year. But especially in the fall and winter, you want to bring an elegant and cozy ambiance into your space. I typically don’t go too spooky with my Halloween decorations since the girls are still so young. These pillar candles are about as creepy as I get. But, I love the neutral colors (shocker!), and that they are flameless. Put these on top of the afore mentioned pillar holders.
- Tchotchke thoughtfully. The fireplace is where you want to show off your best items, so carefully consider what will add to your overall aesthetic. These ravens are a cool addition and this pumpkin set offers some pops of color and pattern. Both are ideal to scatter across your mantle to bring in shorter balance among the candles.
- Create movement. Place these bats so they look as if they just flew out of the fireplace opening. Kids will love the idea and it will create a fun asymmetrical design to your display.
- Don’t forget the hearth. Just like on the mantle, you want to add some height to the base of the fireplace. These Victorian lanterns coordinate perfectly with the pillar holders. Place the set on one side of the fireplace and throw in a playful light-up piece, such as this cute jack o’lantern, on the opposite end.
Texture, light, and varying heights are your three biggest checkmarks when creating your spooky or cute Halloween fireplace display. Other than that, have fun and enjoy the creative process!
