Whether out for a romantic dinner date, or home enjoying a relaxing binge watching session, Valentine’s Day is a fun one to dress up for. I think we forget sometimes, as adults, that being festive doesn’t have to be limited to an annual tacky sweater party at Christmas. I distinctly remember when I was young my mom adorning skeleton earrings at Halloween or a turkey pin at Thanksgiving. The fact that I can recall this now, twenty some odd years later, goes to show that kids take note when their parents do little whimsical things in the course of the average day to day. Notice I mentioned the word little here. Anything too over the top would be remembered as well, perhaps in a more adverse light. Subtle accents can often be more impactful than over the top gestures to the holiday gods.

I’m an avid celebrator (commercial holiday or not) and now that I have Lyla, I especially like to amp up the effort. There are so many cute pieces that I’ve found for her and myself and I wanted to share a few while there’s still some time to order. Enjoy!

  1. Such a cute sweater. Love it paired with leggings and some cozy boots.
  2. I’m not a barefoot kind of gal. Winter or summer, if I’m home, I have on house shoes. Nothing says cozy Valentine like these pink faux fur slippers.
  3. Splurge alert! I almost didn’t include this guy, but it’s just too darn cute to not show off.
  4. 50s’ style dresses were so flattering to the female shape. I love incorporating A-line styles like this one into the array of saggy baggy meets spandex female trends of today.
  5. Who couldn’t use some burgundy booties??
  6. This dress caught my eye last summer and is finally on sale!
  7. Subtle hearts on this scarf do the trick for a V-Day at the office.
  8. Every little girl should have a pair of heart tights at some point in her childhood.
  9. I found this adorable outfit at a local boutique and have loved it ever since! I’m waiting to purchase it when Lyla knows not to try to rip the pom-poms off and eat them.
  10. Super cute earrings and can be worn throughout the spring and summer.
  11. The pocket detail turns an ordinary coat into a festive staple.
  12. This sweater has been all over the fashion blogger world. My favorite outfit inspiration showed it casual with these leggings and some cute loafers.

Are there any pieces that you wear year after year to celebrate this day of love??
