Happy weekend eve!! I hope you’re having a wonderful Friday so far….most Fridays are wonderful just by default, so you’re on the right track. We have a lazy weekend ahead of us which is always a welcomed notion. The weather will finally be warming up, but in true Tennessee fashion, it’s only for a day, and there will be rain, so indoors we will stay for the 197th day in a row. I hope you have a wonderful two days off. Here are some of my favorites from this week. Enjoy!
Favorite Fashion Trend. I feel like these leggings have been everywhere this winter….except in my closet. I’ve tried two other inexpensive versions in an attempt to do the smart thing, but the fit just isn’t right. After talking to a girlfriend who has the “real” ones, I’m convinced that faux leather hugging your hiney just isn’t something you want to go cheap on. Even frugal gals need a splurge now and then, so I’ll be putting Nordstrom gift cards on my birthday wishlist.
Favorite Feeling. This week I officially started working out again (after way too long to mention). I’d love to blame it on the holidays, but they catch enough flack. Getting back to taking care of myself feels great physically (that soreness means something’s happening) and mentally. I have an awesome program that’s only 15 minutes a day so it’s very attainable as I can do it while Lyla sleeps.
Favorite Recipe: We love Chinese food, but don’t have as many recipes in our arsenal for it as we’d like. This is something I’ve been working on to limit the takeout temptation. I tried this one and this one this week and loved them both! I may cook the chicken in veggie oil next time as the coconut oil was slightly overpowering for my palette.
Favorite Adulting Moment: I am proud to say that I made it through my first mammogram. Due to family history and some preexisting conditions, I decided to go with early testing and (now that its done) I’m so glad I did. For many, this may not be a huge moment, but I tend to border on the hypochondriac side, so it’s been a date I’ve been wearily counting down to in my calendar. Armed with my bottle of Balance, and some extra drops of Frankincense, I’m proud to say I powered through and feel stronger because of it.
Favorite Documentary: Tim and I aren’t typically documentary buffs, but he heard about this one at work and we decided to watch. It discusses the toxic chemicals disguised as “fragrance” found in so many of our household products and how they may be affecting us. Whether you think you care or not, it’s worth watching. It’s a topic that highly resonates with me. You can read my two part post about my experience with more natural cleaning products here and here.
