We’re almost there! We’ve made it through another week and the weekend is but a few short (ish) hours away. I hope you have a fun two days planned. I celebrated my birthday this week and intend to use my wonderful gift cards up as quickly as possible. Before I dive into my online shopping mission, I wanted to share my favorite finds from this week. Enjoy!
Favorite New Recipe: I love cereal. Unfortunately, since my decision to eat mostly whole foods went into effect, it’s a forbidden love affair. Some cereals are better than others of course, but they are all processed and most of them contain dubious amounts of ingredients and sugars. I have finally found the solution in this homemade granola recipe! I sprinkle some raisins in and voila, it’s the perfect cereal replacement. Tim likes it over Greek yogurt, so it also makes a great option in lieu of those expensive brand name granolas. I will mention that I buy organic oats (Kroger’s Simple Truth) as there was a recent study about the insane amount of pesticide residue found on oats. I also use half pure maple syrup and half honey as my sweetener and whatever nuts I have on hand.
Favorite Parenting Moment: We got Lyla registered for her first school! It’s just a two half day per week Mother’s Day Out program, but as a first time mama, every milestone makes me proud. She starts at the end of August so of course I’ve already started looking at the adorable school necessities. I just love this backpack (the bunny and the flamingo are my favorite) and this precious nap mat (the unicorn option).
Favorite Fashion Find: I had tried on this dress at Nordstrom literally one year ago this month, but had been waiting for it to go on sale. Finally my patience was rewarded and I snatched it up! I love it on its own for the summer, or with a long cardigan for the spring.
Favorite Sign of Spring: The daffodils in my mom’s garden are blooming, which I know doesn’t necessarily mean spring is here, but it’s a step in the right direction. Lyla is old enough to notice these things this year, so it’s super cute to watch her take in the new sights. Something as simple as a yellow flower or a bunny quickly scampering under the fence result in huge grins and the cutest series of “ooohs”.
Favorite Essential Oil: My husband has been plagued with insomnia for a while now. I, being the oil enthusiast that I am, have tried diffusing and roller balling several different oils in an attempt to help. He is finally getting some relief by rubbing doTERRA’s Serenity on the tip of his nose and wrists at bedtime. I’ll be doing a spotlight on this lovely little blend in the near future.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
