I can’t believe it’s Friday already! Writing these weekly Friday Favorites posts makes me feel like the weeks just zoom by. We have two birthday parties to take Lyla to this weekend. We’re putting off giving her cake until her first birthday, which means I’ll have to hide to enjoy a piece. Hopefully the bigger kids running around will be a good distraction. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Here are some of my favorite finds from this week:

Favorite Gardening Idea: We go through blueberries pretty quickly around here. I love them on oatmeal, in smoothies, and as a snack for Lyla. Buying them organic can be pretty pricey, so I was excited to come across this article about growing a blueberry bush in a pot which I actually have room for on our small patio.

Favorite Home Good. I have lately been using bar hand soap in lieu of the liquid. More about why another time. My absolute favorite is this Zum Frankincense and Myrrh. The scent is amazing!

Favorite Recipe: I made this butternut squash soup this week and will definitely be making it again soon! The roasted flavor is awesome and the texture was similar to that of corn chowder. The only alteration was that I added some milk when it was done to thin it out slightly.

Favorite Baby Necessity. I love that Lyla can now feed herself. I chop the bites into minuscule sizes that I’m comfortable with, put it on her tray, and then we can actually both eat together at the same time. I realized quickly that going to a restaurant was a different story. A plate would get tossed and I would sooner hold every piece in my hand than let her eat off the table. These disposable placemats have been a lifesaver! Paired with the high chair cover, I feel like I’m keeping some of the germs at bay.

Favorite Nostalgic Moment. My mom just had a new deck built at her house. The lumber is such a nostalgic scent for me. It instantly transports me back to childhood and being at jobs with my dad. Here is a fun list of nostalgic smells that many of us would recognize instantly.

  1. Ha ha ha. Some of those nostalgic smells did take me way way back to my childhood. Great piece. I think my favorite day of the week is Friday. Does that count as a Friday Favorite??
