Happy Friday!! Once again, Mother Nature has decided to give us the worst weather of the week during the two days we could actually enjoy it. If you live anywhere near me, I hope you’ve got some fun indoor activities planned for the weekend. I am going with four of my best friends to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our sorority (Alpha Delta Pi whoop whoop!) becoming active at our alma mater. It will be fun seeing some old familiar faces and being a part of the milestone. We also get to tour the sorority house which is especially exciting because in our day, sororities weren’t allowed to have houses in the state of Tennessee. In case that last statement has you wondering, I’m only 33, so we’re not talking about that long ago. Seeing the ladies being represented in a far more equal way will be a great feeling.

Favorite Mother’s Day Gift Idea: The doTERRA community has been abuzz this month with the arrival of this oil blend and diffuser deal specifically designed for Mother’s Day. Although, I daresay just about everyone ordered it for a “happy early Mother’s Day” to themselves, it would make an amazing gift. I ordered just the Citrus Bloom oil as I don’t currently need another diffuser (but it’s a great price at only $20). I have to say that the hype was totally warranted! It smells absolutely amazing and I will likely be stocking up next month before it sells out. The scent is mostly citrus (my favorite) with just a hint of floral. It reminds me of what the tropical pack of Skittles used to smell like (kids of the 90s unite).
Favorite Announcement: Ok, apparently this was announced in the fall, but I completely missed it. As if they don’t have their hands full enough, Chip and Joanna Gaines are taking over the current Discovery DIY channel and starting their own cable network! It launches next summer and will offer shows relating to design, community, gardening, home, food and wellness. All things right up this gal’s alley. I can’t wait! Read more here.
Favorite Frugal Fashion Find. I love Lilly Pulitzer! Being only 5’3, it can be hard to find dresses that fit without searching the department stores high and low for a petite section that’s not designed for the 70s and up club. Lilly’s stuff just fits me right. Unfortunately, that fit comes at a high cost. I recently found this dress in navy at Marshall’s for half the cost! It’s still a splurge, but I have to take a deal when I find one. I also love these eyelet shorts that I invested in last summer. Sometimes you just have to go with quality over quantity, but I’ll be keeping a sharp eye this summer at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s for more great finds.
Favorite New Retailer (possibly). I am constantly on the hunt for natural alternatives to skin care and makeup. It’s a hard thing to break up with your favorite brands and venture out into the unknown. However, as I learn more and more about what’s lurking in our products, I’m being forced out of my beauty regimen comfort zone. I recently discovered Organic to Green which offers all natural bath, home, and skin care products. They’re highly rated on EWG’s Skin Deep database and I love that the containers are recycled as well. I haven’t ordered anything yet, but have my eye on the Chap Guard and the Vanilla Chamomile Coco Oil. I’ll update you once I’ve tried them out. Anyone have any experience with the brand or suggestions??
Favorite Just for Fun Link: This article shows Disney Princesses re-imagined as modern day career women. Belle and Aurora are my favorite.
