Happy Weekend Eve! I can honestly say I am extremely excited for a relaxing weekend (insert context: I still have 2 small kiddos). Let’s rephrase relaxing to commitment-free. June was an amazing month, but each weekend consisted of something. We had Lyla’s fourth birthday, an 11 hour haul to our beach trip in North Carolina, Father’s Day, return from said trip, Rose’s first birthday, and then 4th of July in back to back sequence. All amazing things, but I think the hostess in me is on strike. We are extremely blessed, but having two kids’ birthdays in the same month was unplanned and I don’t recommend it. All this being said, this weekend is completely free!! I’m ready for the dog days of summer versus the marathon that kicked it off.

Before you start your hopefully fun couple of days, here are a few of my favorite finds from this week. Enjoy!

  • Favorite Way to Make My Home Smell Great for Summer Time. Breaking my candle habit was not my favorite thing to do, and I still light up from time to time. However, I LOVE my oils. You don’t have to venture far around my blog to find alllll the ways I love them. Helping my house smell nice without compromising my family’s health is a biggie. This blend is now offered full time (it used to only be available as a promo) and it smells amazing. It’s bright, citrusy, floraly, all the “ly” things that make you happy and smell like warm weather. If you need help ordering, let me know.
  • Favorite “Me” Moment. It is hot and humid about 29 hours out of the day currently in Nashville. However, there is about a 45 minute window in the evening where sitting on my back patio is my favorite thing ever. Typically around 7pm right after the girls are put to bed, I love sitting on the outdoor couch and just “being” for a moment. No one is pulling for my attention, the birds are singing, the sunlight glows through the leaves of the tree in the corner of the yard. I may only sit for about 20 minutes, but it’s the perfect way to wind down after a busy day and just be present.
  • Favorite Baby Milestone. Rose just turned one and is changing so much every day. It’s such a fun age. I’ve recently let her start sleeping with a lovey. I go through the nap/bed time routine, then lay her in the crib, and hand her bunny. Her little face always grins as she hugs it close and then she rolls over and snuggles up with it tucked under her arm. She has even started making a lip “smack” sound back to me as I have always made a kissy sound as I leave her room. #fullheartmelt. This is the lovey that we use. Love this brand and it’s not too big where it makes me nervous to let her sleep with it. We also have this cutie and I’m obsessed with the adorable blanket from Bunnies by the Bay.
  • Favorite New Home Good. Tim recently surprised me with this. I absolutely love when my feathered friends come for a dip! It’s one of the simple joys that makes me smile every time.
  • Favorite New Recipe. I’ve gotten back into baking recently and have jumped in with both feet. I’ve made birthday cakes for my father-in-law, two for Lyla’s bday celebrations, and cupcakes and a smash cake for Rose’s. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed….when I have the time to actually enjoy it. My FIL’s favorite cake is carrot, so I made him one using this recipe from Southern Living. It was outstanding. I highly recommend giving it a try! A few modifications: substituted coconut oil for the vegetable oil (even switch), left out the pineapple and coconut, and used 2 – 8 oz packages of cream cheese, 1 cube of butter, and 2 cups of powdered sugar rather than 3 for the frosting.
  • Favorite TV Find. If you haven’t yet watched Schitt’s Creek, yes it’s worth the hype and then some. Give yourself about 5-6 episodes to really start falling for the characters. Tim and I watched it together and loved it!
  • Favorite Quote: “We only get to be in our bodies for a limited time, why not celebrate the journey instead of merely riding it out until it’s over?” Jen Sincero

Have an amazing weekend!!
